The value
of a healthy workplace is of prime importance to Wilcon. As
part of its initiative to keep its most valuable resource,
its people, in the best physical and emotional condition,
the company undertook a Drug Abuse Prevention Seminar on
March 20, 1010, under the auspices of the Philippine Drug
Enforcement. |

| |
The
seminar, which was held at Montalban Distribution Center,
covered a series of essential topics about drug awareness
and prevention. It started off with a discussion of RA 9165,
the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The articles
of RA 9165 covered in the seminar included: how certain
drugs are restricted tested for; and how the Department of
Labor and Employment (DOLE) works with PDEA, the private
sector and the labor sectors for the promotion of the
National Drug-Free Workplace Program. |
|
| |
|
The rest of
the seminar explored a variety of angles, such as the
policies of the National Drug-Free Workplace Program, the
issues involving drug testing, rehabilitation and
enforcement, and ways for workplaces to detect and deal with
drug-related problems should they arise. The main emphases
of the seminar were on problem prevention and a positive
approach for resolution should issues arise. The point is to
provide help, as opposed to simply setting down rules and
pu nishments. A constructive and supportive workplace is a
healthy workplace, according to the PDEA.
