Armed with shovels, fully clad with yellow shirts and sun visors bearing the tag "Wilcon Goes Green", Wilcon Builders' Depot engaged in a tree planting activity held on July 21, 2009 at the La Mesa Nature Reserve in Quezon City.

Briefed by the La Mesa Team about their Watershed Project, their advocacies and tree-planting; approximately 70 participants  led by Wilcon EVP-COO Ms. Rosemarie B. Ong and EVP-COO Ms.Lorraine Belo trekked the woods all the way to the planting site and planted various tree species in a one-hectare company-sponsored area.

The La Mesa Nature Reserve plays a vital role in providing sufficient water supply to the residents of Metro Manila and functions as a carbon dioxide sink. The reserve has been undergoing rehabilitation and reforestation since 1999 to preserve the watershed as well as the forest, being recognized as the last of its size lying in the city.

The 32-year-old company contributed in the Quezon City government, Metropolitan Waterworks Sewerage System (MWSS) and ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan project to help sustain the La Mesa Dam as well as the forest surrounding the water reservoir.

There is also a 33-hectare public park, equipped with various outdoor activities and educational facilities, that serves as living  classroom and recreation for

students and people who want to take a momentary retreat from the hustles and bustles of the city.

In early 2008, Wilcon took the initiative to make a green drive as part of its corporate social responsibility. Since then, it has been an active advocate of environmentalism, launching several heightened campaigns. These include the recently-concluded design competition dubbed as Eco-friendly Designs for a Greener Tomorrow as well as the use of innovative yet eco-friendly products.

On May 24 and 31, 2009, the leading builders' depot celebrated its annual family affair. With the theme "Wilcon goes Green", it was  highlighted by a ceremonial tree planting headed by Wilcon president and CEO Mr. William Belo and vermi-composting lecture by Organic Earth Angel.

Moreover, a W-formation joined in by employees from different Wilcon outlets signified the oneness of the company in creating awareness for the protection and conservation of the natural resources.

Envisioning a better environment for the future generation, Wilcon will continue to come up with environmentally-friendly campaigns as well as homebuilding solutions to help address the growing environmental issues brought about by globalization, negligence, over-population and lack of awareness.
